Latino Culture Project
Latino culture project focuses on the development and promotion of Latin American culture in Slovakia and in Europe by organizing various cultural activities.
1. Dance groups
LCP has established different dance groups which are classified into 5 categories, each focused on the teaching of Latin American culture through its dance and Spanish language teaching. Each of these categories are set depending on each member age.
a. Pipitos: Aimed to children between 4 to 6 years old.
b. Latinito: Aimed to children between 7 to 9 years old.
c. Caribeñas: Aimed to children between 10 to 13 years of age.
d. Chicos y Chicas: Aimed to teenagers between 14 to 17 years old.
e. Latino Flash: Aimed to adults. (18 +)
Pipitos, Latinito, Caribeñas and Chicos y Chicas were founded by Miguel Mendez Dance Academy's students on September the first 1998 in the premises of the Sports Club Karlova Ves, Bratislava - Janotova ulica 12, where currently continues with the dance company formation process.
The Flash Latino dance group was founded on 24 March 1990 at the Unic club in Mlynska Dolina's student thoroughfare in the capital of Bratislava Slovak Republic, as a pilot cultural project to promote the Latino dances. Each of the groups have in their repertoire an exquisite variety of Latin-American folk dances. All members attend Spanish classes in order to better understand the Latino culture.
2. Miguel Méndez’ Dance Academy
LCP has created the 'Academia de Danza de Miguel Mendez' whose main objective is the comprehensive training of new members who potentially will be part of groups that promotes LCP (Pipitos, Latinitas, Caribeñas, Latino Flash and Chicos y Chicas). The Dance Academy was founded by Miguel Mendez on September the first, 1998 in Karlova Ves, Bratislava, Slovakia.
3. Fiesta Latina de Miguel Méndez.
As an important part in the propagation and popularization of Latin American culture in Europe, LCP has prepared several cultural activities, dance performances and live music. Also every year there is 'El festival de danza latino' at the streets of the capital city of Bartislava which has been for 10 years supported and welcomed by the population and occupy an important place among the country's summer activities. La Fiesta Latina de Miguel Méndez also aims the promotion of artists from Latin America who have the interest of promoting his art at this part of the world.
Twenty-five years of experience and a lot of hits placed LCP as the vanguard organization in Slovakia and other Central Europe countries. Parallel activities to Latin dance festival make the product: La Fiesta Latina de Miguel Méndez, under a unique and spectacular event, some of these activities are: The summer latino carnival and Annual festival in one of the more cultural facilities Slovakia PKO, so far this become the two LCP major activities: The Spring festival celebrating the Latino Flash founding and during the fall: Fiesta Latina celebrating the anniversary of the race-driven culture in Slovakia this was a Mr. Miguel Mendez idea started the 12th of November 1985 in Nitra, Slovakia.
4. Latino Tourism
Tourism Latino is an ongoing project that aims to boost local tourism in Latin American countries. We aim with this activity the academic exchange between Europe and Latin America so that would guide LCP dancers and people interested in the process of cultural exchange in countries where the Latin-American roots are the main sources.
25 years pushing the development process of Latin American culture in Europe make from LCP a Cultural Ambassador and the only of its kind in the area. Be part of this process and let us give you a dose of our beautiful culture and a piece of this heart of Latino in each class, dancing and presentation.
